Every once in a while, when I am at my Department and need a break from staring at the laptop, I go to the nearest break-out room. We have two of them. They are slightly warmer than rest of the floor, almost always occupied and look out on Amsterdam Avenue. Since we students sit in the middle of the floor, we don’t have rooms with views (actually we don’t have rooms at all, we have cubicles). So, the break-out rooms are our only source of light and a look at the outside world (without actually going outside, I mean). Here are some pictures I took this afternoon. What you can see are the rooftops of various Columbia buildings, including the Chapel and the Low Library. Aren’t they pretty?
