in & out

 If you really want to know a person, you should look inside their kitchen cabinets, closets, that cupboard under the bathroom sink. That’s where we hide our messes. That’s what our real insides look like.

And then compare them with how the outsides appear. That’s what I would do if I was a detective investigating a suspect or doing character research for a novel.

My kitchen cabinets are a mish-mash of spices, grains, glasses, flours, coffee, nuts, noodles and pasta. Just like my bookshelves contain things other than and along with books. Clearly, they don’t reveal much order and organization!
